Walter Trout
28 October 7:30 PM
Blues guitar legend Walter Trout comes to Buxton hot on the heels of his acclaimed album The Outsider. Following a youth playing in various New Jersey bands, Trout moved to Los Angeles, where she became sideman to such veteran performers as Finis Tasby, Pee Wee Crayton, John Lee Hooker, Big Mama Thorton and Joe Tex. Between 1981 and 1984 he joined Canned Heat, before answering the call to join John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers. With his star on the ascendant, Trout then launched a highly acclaimed solo career. Whether an improvisational jam or a carefully arranged song, Walter Trout’s thirst for musical satisfaction is seemingly unquenchable. Equally capable of spontaneous serendipity as well as pre-planned perfection, this guitarist is truly in the midst of an all-encompassing love affair with the music he creates. In their latest album, So, Who’s Paranoid?, The Damned still display, after 32 years, their trademark brand of dark melodic irony, blended with caustic political satire – perhaps more relevant now than ever.
Headed by classic band members Dave Vanian and Captain Sensible, along with Monty Oxy Moron, Pinch and Stu West, The Damned have lost none of their energy, music; melody and lyrical diversity combined in an intoxicating potion that stirs the blood and sets the pulse racing.
