Edwyn Collins

13 February 7:30 PM

Four Four Time 09
For Edwyn Collins, one of the most influential figures on the Glasgow post-punk scene, both as the lead singer of Postcard label stars Orange Juice (Rip It Up, Falling & Laughing, Simply Thrilled Honey, Lean Period, What Presence?), as a solo artist (A Girl Like You, The Magic Piper of Love) and producer for the likes of The Proclaimers, his music career came to an abrupt halt in 2005 when he suffered two cerebral haemorrhages. Since then he has fought his way back to health, released a new album, Home Again, presented a successful exhibition of drawings and begun to play the festival circuit, including Glastonbury and the BBC Electric Proms. Now Four Four Time is excited to welcome the return of a courageous and inspirational artist.

Nick Harper

18 February 8:30 PM

Four Four Time 09
Son of the legendary UK singer-songwriter Roy Harper, Nick Harper played the guitar from the age of 10 surrounded by the likes of Keith Moon, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and Dave Gilmour. Nick’s talent and energy entranced Roy’s fans and it was inevitable that he would begin touring and recording in his own right. The 1994 EP Light at the End of the Kennel was swiftly followed by his powerful 1995 debut long player Seed prompting The Independent to describe him as ‘hugely talented’. In 1996 Nick met Squeeze frontman Glenn Tilbrook, who offered Nick a job playing with and supporting Squeeze and signed Nick to his own label, Quixotic Records. A superlative singer-songwriter and a guitarist’s guitarist, with a distinctive, soulful voice, Nick’s live shows move from personal introspection to biting political satire via a charmingly caustic wit. He segues from his own compositions to well-loved covers he makes his own – he takes on Presley, Zappa, Jeff Buckley, Led Zeppelin, Monty Python and Public Enemy (yes, on an acoustic guitar).

Live/Wire

This is a picture of Live/Wire, showing at Buxton Opera House

27 February 7:30 PM

The AC/DC show with a big difference – both the Bon Scott & Brian Johnson eras of the band are portrayed by two different singers, in the same explosive, two-hour-plus concert.
The band bring the full size ‘DC show to the fore, complete with the Cannons, the Hell’s Bell, the walkways and the backdrops & drapes. Add a rock hard rhythm section and ‘Angus Lorne’ cutting the rug as Angus Young and it’s a no-brainer as to why this band is the hardest working in the UK of its kind. You’ll hear all the classics from Whole Lotta Rosie and Highway To Hell to Thunderstruck & Back In Black. There are no cutting corners with Live/Wire – it’s the full-on show – close your eyes, you hear AC/DC; open your eyes, you see AC/DC! Read more about this event … or
