Legendary Sheffield-born singer, songwriter and former vocalist with Ace, Squeeze and Mike & The Mechanics is back on tour to promote acclaimed new album I Know That Name. The album has received heavy airplay on BBC Radio 2 and the single I Don’t Want To Hear Any More featuring Don Henley and fellow Eagle Timothy B Schmit on backing vocals has also been recorded and released as a single by The Eagles. With a back catalogue of hits including How Long, Tempted and The Living Years, Paul’s marvelously soulful voice has earned him a legion of devoted fans who know all too well that a Paul Carrack show is always something very special. Buxton Opera House is proud to welcome Mary Wilson who, has a teenager in Detroit became on third, alongside Diana Ross and Florence Ballard of one of the most successful girl groups of all time – The Supremes. With 12 No1 hits including Where Did Our Love Go, Baby Love, Stop in the Name of Love and You Can’t Hurry Love and nearly forty albums, the Supremes were without a doubt one of the most influential, memorable, and successful icons of the turbulent 1960s. Only Elvis and the Beatles proved to have a far-reaching appeal and impact on the pop music of the times.
Once Diana Ross left to pursue her own solo career in 1970, Mary took up the mantle of lead singer nd sustained the Supremes until their official break-up in 1977.
Mary is joined by The Chi-Lites, one of the most successful soul bands of the 1970s, with worldwide hits including Have You Seen Her, Oh Girl, Homely Girl and Too Good To Be Forgotten. Read more about this event … or
