Richard Hawley

02 September 7:30 PM

In an era where next big things, scenes and in-sounds flash by, when even our favourite tunes are listened to on shuffle, we need music that will stick around for a while, albums that we can go on listening to in one sitting until they wear out. We need something real. Something timeless. Something proper. This is Richard Hawley, ‘the Elvis of the North’, the Sheffield-based singer-songwriter ‘robbed’ of the Mercury Music Prize according to its winner, The Arctic Monkeys. Great music doesn’t need hype, it makes its own friends. And Richard Hawley has found plenty with the fabulous albums, Coles Corner, Lady’s Bridge and Truelove’s Gutter. Buxton Opera House is excited to be welcoming back one of the great British musical talents of recent years. Read more about this event … or

05 September 8:00 PM

Over 100 million people from around the world tuned into America’s Got Talent last season, to see The Texas Tenors voted ‘2009’s Vocal Group of the Year’. Now, for the very first time ever, they are touring the UK!
The incredible voices of these classically trained tenors, JC, Marcus and John, perform the most romantic songs of the last century and bring their unique blend of gospel, country, classical and Broadway to the stage with breathtaking vocals, humour and a hint of cowboy charm.
JC is the ever romantic tenor with his interpretations of classic Neapolitan love songs; Marcus brings a contemporary feel to the group and John is simply…The Tenor! These three childhood friends have carved fantastic careers in their own right, as actors and classical soloists, and since America’s Got Talent they have combined to create the ultimate vocal sound.
Together they create harmonies as smooth as silk and a sound to satisfy the soul. From well loved arias, to show songs, from Nessun Dorma to My Way, The Texas Tenors cover every genre of music … effortlessly! Read more about this event … or
