An Albion Christmas

Founder of Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span and The Albion Band, Ashley Hutchings is joined on stage by acclaimed solo singer Kellie While, Simon Care of Edward II and E2K and fellow Fairport founder-member Simon Nicol, for an evening of traditional English Christmas music, dancing and celebration. Shooglenifty

One of the most innovative and exciting bands of recent years, and the runaway success of Four Four Time 07, Shooglenifty have a well deserved global reputation for a fantastic show. Formed in Edinburgh, the band quickly drew a strong fanbase for their energised, contemporary roots material. They describe their sound as ‘hypnofolkadelia’ and ‘acid croft’, with influences stretching from folk revivalists, to Captain Beefheart to The Fall.

A mixture of well-loved Christmas music and carols with some surprises. Amongst the entertainments on offer is the Edward Watson version of The Twelve Days of Christmas (in the witty John Julius Norwich version) and also his Christmas Cake Recipe Carol, alongside such carols as Torches and Silent Night, with The Computer’s First Christmas Card, and contributions to the Christmas spirit from Dickens and John Betjeman. The highlight of the show will be a performance of _The Snowman narrated by Jeffery Dench from The Royal Shakespeare Company and a soloist from the Youth choir. Read more about this event … or
