This humorous, touching family drama about Norwegian immigrants in 1910 San Francisco follows the trials and tribulations of the Hansons, particularly the strong, caring Mama, trying to make ends meet with her husband, four children (including her daughter Katrin, a budding writer) and assorted eccentric relations.
I Remember Mama was first produced on Broadway in 1944 and in 1946 was turned into a highly successful film starring Irene Dunne.
