This musical theatre comedy won ‘Spirit of the Fringe’ award at Buxton Festival last year. It features Victor Barstool’s legendary on-stage squabbles with his girl backing singers and charts his ongoing battle with booze and paranoia. His original songs chart his troubles – like accidentally dating a succession of serial killers and his fear of nursery rhymes.
Back up singers Bubbles and Squeak, fed up of doing Sha-La-Las and Doobie-Doos want stardom for themselves.
Established TV and radio actor Deirdre Costello stars as Victor’s long suffering girlfriend Wanda K Lutz and also his Aunty Nora who tells of Victor’s poor upbringing. Emma Shanks and Victoria Plum are the backing singers, music is by Jim Lampard who also plays sax and Alan Charnley who also plays Victor. Barstool claims to have influenced music’s all-time greats, including Bowie, Lady GaGa and Kraftwerk, but struggles gamefully with his personal life.
