About Us
Buxton Opera House is a registered charity and in 2005/6 cost almost £1 million to run. Our running costs are met by the following income:
- 39% from tickets sales
- 9% from grants
- 15% from bar, programme and merchandise sales
- 14% from service charges to visiting companies
- 11% from donations and other fundraising
- 13% “in kind” from the unstinting support of more than 120 unpaid volunteers who act as ushers, selling programmes, taking tickets and operating the bars throughout the year.
Buxton Opera House must meet the challenge of finding these funds and matching this level of volunteer support year on year. We are lucky enough to enjoy the support of many businesses, individuals and funding partners all of whom help us attain this goal but raising funds remains a constant challenge.
