World Challenge Sponsors Meet Chris Bonington

12 June 2007

Buxton based World Challenge recently celebrated a successful partnership with Buxton Opera House, as sponsors of An Audience with Sir Chris Bonington. The lecture by the mountaineering legend provided the ideal opportunity for “Education through Exploration” specialists World Challenge to inform local schools and education professionals about the services they provide.

As well as putting their name to all related publicity for the popular mountaineering lecture World Challenge also made use of the Pavilion Gardens lounge for a pre-show reception party. The invited guests were also surprised and delighted by an appearance by Sir Chris Bonington himself, arranged by Opera House Development Officer Jenny Mather.

As the original schools expedition company, World Challenge offers an unrivalled range of programmes geared to the education of young people. Their nineteen years’ experience means that students and teachers benefit from a level of safety and service second to none, while the activities and amazing destinations guarantee an extraordinary adventure.
Terry Hayward Sales and Marketing Director of World Challenge said,”Our expeditions may not push the boundaries in quite the same way as Chris Bonington has been doing for 4 decades but they do allow young people to challenge themselves physically, mentally and emotionally and in doing so to understand the importance of leadership, teamwork, communication and planning. Whether on a month long expedition to South America or a few days in the Peak District every student gets the opportunity to practice these new skills in real situations with real consequences albeit under the guidance of one of our Expedition Leaders.’

World Challenge and Buxton Opera House have a successful and enduring business partnership and this is the third time the two companies have worked together. World Challenge previously sponsored lectures by mountaineering greats Sir Ranulph Fiennes and Simon Yates. Commenting on their enduring relationship Terry Hayward said ‘As a Buxton resident it gives me great pleasure to support the Opera House especially when it attracts such distinguished visitors.’

If you would like to discuss ways of promoting your business in conjunction with Buxton Opera House please contact Development Officer Jenny Mather on 01298 72050 to receive information for sponsorship opportunities.
