Daleks invade Buxton Opera House for Time Lord show

21 September 2007

One of the universe’s most unstoppable villains, a Dalek, met its match at the steps of Buxton Opera House, when it came to buy tickets for this weekend’s Doctor Who-related show.

Word of the award-winning one-man comedy, Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf must have reached the planet Scaro, since a Dalek was dispatched to check out the show. Moths star, Toby Hadoke was on-hand to witness the Dalek’s arrival.

In the show, Toby, a lifelong Who fan, as well as a respected actor and writer in his own right, takes audiences on a hilarious and often poignant odyssey – his life mirroring the ups and downs of his favourite television programme’s 44-year life. Through the glory days of classic Doctor Who, to ploughing a lonely furrow during the show’s enforced absence from our screens and finally revelling in its ultimate triumphant return. It is a tale of fandom, of a boy taking comfort in a fantasy universe and a man bonding with own son over the show’s spectacular new incarnation. You won’t have to be a Doctor Who fan – if you’ve ever been a fan of anything, you’ll understand where he’s coming from.

Luckily for all concerned, the Dalek was unable to negotiate the Opera House steps and exterminate Box Office staff, so tickets for the show remain on sale. Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf takes place on Saturday 29 September at 7.30pm and tickets are priced at £10. For further details or to make a booking please call the Box Office on 0845 127 2190 or visit www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk.
