The first Buxton Festival for Children and Teenagers took place from Saturday 23 to Sunday 31 October 2004. The theme of the exciting nine-day festival was trying out the unusual. The event featured a fantastic mixture of performances and events with something for everyone from age 1 to 19.

The festival was organised by Buxton Opera House in partnership with dozens of venues and organisations in the town. A to Z featured a host of interesting events including 3 performances in the theatre, 3 performances in St John’s Church for under 8s and 2 performances for older children and teenagers. There were also dance and drama workshops, an urban arts and photography project, storytelling, music making and sports activities. Other unusual events included a roller disco, an outdoor spectacular featuring fireworks and pyrotechnics and even a theatre sleepover!

A second A to Z Festival will take place from Sat 21 to Sun 29 October 2006. Watch this space for further details. If you would like details of A to Z 2006 please join the theatre’s education mailing list.
